MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

SUMMARY: The Maintenance Mechanic ensures operation of food processing and packaging equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements, making necessary repairs or modifications, and troubleshooting. Responsible for following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following:
• Respond to repair requests of production equipment and building equipment.
• Provide training to other maintenance staff.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks on all machinery.
• Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.
• Inspects machinery for proper function and  diagnoses machinery malfunctions; performs  electrical or mechanical     troubleshooting to    determine problems with non- functioning machinery.
• Dismantles, adjusts, repairs, and assembles  machinery according to blueprints, operating or  repair manuals, and   schematics.
• Comply with plant safety rules, GMP’s and  OSHA standards.
• Support the Production Department in order to manufacture safe, quality products.
• Ability to pass Background Check and Drug Screen

SUPERVISORY/ REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides work training to less experienced maintenance staff.
Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma
Requires 2 years of technical training and 5+ years of related work experience.
Tig welding experience a plus
Food production experience a plus
PLC Knowledge a plus

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply mathematical, statistical and scientific principles used in food industry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Schematics, mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, machining, welding and electrical.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
