TR Toppers is a national food processing company located in Pueblo, CO. We specialize in processing name brand candies and other types of toppings and inclusions that are used in a variety of food products, such as ice creams and cakes, and shipped throughout the company. We are a progressive family owned business and we are rapidly growing.

SUMMARY: The position is responsible for ensuring product specifications are met and enforcing company policies and procedures on the production floor. The individual will work independently, be able to multitask, detail oriented, and have good decision making skills based on the quality process from the beginning of manufacturing to the end.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with suppliers to obtain new project information needed for project development.

  • Use the product information provided by supplier and studies conducted by the QA department to development finished product specifications.

  • Work with customers to obtain their requirements during the sample and trial phase of product development.

  • Assist customers with questions and inquiries.

  • Tests products at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of attributes.

  • Records into computer test data for analysis, applying statistical quality control procedures.

  • Evaluates data, prepares graphs or charts and writes monthly reports to management validating or indicating deviations from existing standards.

  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to production lead people to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.

  • Sets up and perform tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristic.

  • Assesses all outgoing end products to ensure they meet internal and external standards.

  • Write certificates of analysis for customers.

  • Perform product microbiological testing.

  • Monitor facility personnel’s compliance to GMP and other food safety, food quality and personnel safety policies and procedures.

  • Assist in preparation of samples, sample retention and ordering supplies for lab.

  • Cross train new lab technicians.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from an Accredited College or University Natural Sciences or a closely related field OR Equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • The successful candidate must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

WORK SCHEDULE:

40 hours a week – Monday to Friday – Day Shift - (Must be flexible and able to work weekends and overtime to meet the needs of the - company).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Recent work experience performing quality control in food production facility or like industry is highly desirable.

  • Food production knowledge for quality assessments is highly desirable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIRED FOR BEING SUCCESSFUL IN POSITION:

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instruction furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, and crouch, and taste or smell to perform standard lab procedures.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
